Traditional Songye Masks (or Kifwebe masks) symbolize the spirits of the dead, and the struggle between good and evil.  They feature striking, striated carving and exaggerated features.  This Songye mask represents fine African craftsmanship and played a central role in the culture and hierarchy of the Songye people of the Congo.  It makes a distinctly African accent for any room.  Each mask is unique.  The mask measures approximately 4” to 6” wide and 8” to 11” long.  Made in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
